Dave Huber is a graduate of Sturgis High School.  Upon graduation he joined the United States Army.  After basic training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, GA he was assigned to the 7th Battalion, 6th Infantry in Bamberg, Germany.  His unit was deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm where he earned a Combat Infantryman Badge and a SouthWest Asia Service Medal with three battle stars.  He served on active duty till 1996.

After his honorable discharge from the Army, Dave joined the Army National Guard in the 125th Infantry..  In 2004 his battalion deployed to the Sinai Peninsula in support of the Multi Forces and Observers  (MFO) Mission. Upon completing the MFO mission he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in 2006-2007 where he earned his Combat Infantryman Badge 2nd Award, Iraq Campaign Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Medal. Again in 2009 he deployed in support of a NATO mission to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he earned his Afghanistan Campaign Medal.

Dave joined the VFW 10592 Richard E. Austin Post.  Dave later transferred to the VFW Maple City Post 2406 in Charlotte, MI. He was first elected Sr. Vice Commander in 2024 and Post Commander in 2026.  

Dave and his wife, Shannon, have two sons, Mitchel and Troy, and a daughter Nina who have each supported the VFW through their time and involvement in various volunteer activities. 

Dave remains deeply proud of his military service and of the opportunity to continue serving through the VFW. His work within the organization allows him to honor his fellow veterans and give back to the community he values.
